This singular villa is set in stunning grounds extending to some 12 hectares, in a dream environment in the midst of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche natural park. A renovated mill, surrounded by mature trees in a beautiful wooded area. This Finca is located in one of the last villages on the Spanish side of the Comarca de la Sierra, very close to the border with Portugal.
This is a unique property in an old 18th century mill, a concession from the reign of Charles III, which has been carefully and lovingly restored by the designer team Agua de Sevilla. It is in the village of Las Chinas, in the municipality of Galaroza, which in Arabic (al-Jaroza) means "Valley of Roses", "Valley of the Maidens" or "Valley of the bride".
The renovation project has been carried out with the area’s traditional aesthetics in mind, using local natural materials such as wood, stone and clay, while at the same time incorporating all modern conveniences, making it a perfect permanent or holiday home.
The grounds are divided into three main areas. The garden around the house is full of beautiful and unexpected corners that will surprise guests when out on a walk. There is a second area for growing ornamental plants, and another which is used as a vegetable garden. The property has its own organic vegetables, a plus for guests eager to learn about rural life. All of the grounds are full of lush vegetation, and the soils are moist and fertile.
The Finca is looked after year-round by a local couple who live nearby and whose services are available to guests. They can provide information and tips about the area, and prepare food and homemade pastries on request.
The property is distributed over three levels:
The entrance leads into a spacious living room with different seating areas and a fireplace; a dining room also with its own stone fireplace, and a cosy and perfectly equipped kitchen with a dining table.
The sleeping area is on the upper floor. The first floor has three spacious bedrooms, each with an own bathroom. The first of these rooms is a large suite with private lounge, fireplace and stunning views of the sierra. The second bedroom has access additionally to a small terrace balcony, and the third of these rooms also has a lounge area, and can be used as a private apartment.
The upper floor has a further large bedroom with full bathroom.
Life in the Comarca de la Sierra revolves around its natural landscape, which has become the area’s main income generator and a real attraction for nature tourism. Sustainability, biodiversity, landscapes, fairy–tale forests, fields planted with poplars, chestnuts, oaks and olive trees, and warm, welcoming people. Not to forget an excellent cuisine based on local produce, from organic vegetable to pork products, of the highly appreciated “Ibérico” variety.
